Beat the Heat with this Summer Treat!

Strawberry and Raspberry Smoothie

We have the perfect summer treat for you just in time for the warmer weather. This strawberry and raspberry smoothie comes courtesy of our very own manager, Eva, and is the perfect way to beat the heat! Our fresh-picked berries are so sweet that no additional sweetener is needed! We also love adding local ground bee pollen that we carry in the Gift Shop from the Bohemian Bee.

Preparation:
How to freeze freshly picked berries?
Wash your fresh Julian Farm and Orchard strawberries and raspberries. Dry each berry individually. Once the berries are dry, remove the green tops. You can leave the berries whole or cut them into smaller prices. Next, place the strawberries on a parchment-lined baking sheet that will fit into your freezer. Spread the strawberries out so that they do not touch. Freeze until solid. The berries usually take a few hours to completely freeze. Store in a freezer-safe bag or use right away.

Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups of Julian Farm and Orchard strawberries (Frozen)
- ½ cup of Julian Farm and Orchard Raspberries (Frozen)
- 1 Cup of Milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- ½ cup yogurt (dairy or non-dairy)
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- Ground Bee Pollen from The Bohemian Bee
- Top with whipped cream

Optional Additions:
- If you don’t freeze the berries in advance, you can add a few ice cubes
- Sweetener to taste (Honey, maple syrup, or sugar)
- Chia seeds
- Ground Flax
- Protein Powder
- Coconut oil
- Fruit Juice
- Garnish with a couple of fresh raspberries or strawberry slices.

Instructions:
Add all ingredients to your blender. Start blending on low. Slowly increase speed until it smoothly reaches your desired consistency.

Serve right away or pour into paper cups and freeze for later. A frozen smoothie will defrost to drinking consistency reasonably quickly at room temperature.
